With so many more technicaly talented people that I am on this forum I thought I would ask a question. I have an old VHS tape that I bought my senior year in High School :fogey: and I would like to have it copied to a DVD but it's copy pretected. So my question is what do I need to buy so I can copy it? My goal in coping it is to download into my computer so my friends can see it. Any help would be most appreciated.
If it's Copy protected then most DVD recorders will refuse to cap the video.
The easiest way is to get a capture card and record the audio/video output from your VCR (Capture Cards plug directly into a USB port.)
You can usually find Capture Cards with an A/V imput at Staples or Office Max... or was it Depot?
Just remember this won't have the highest quality, but it's one of the easiest and cheapest ways to Convert VHS to DVD.
Edit:
A converter box can only be used if you have an editing program. (Windows Movie Maker, Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premere...)
At first the captured video's quality may seem to be very poor, but check the video file settings, usually the default format is a very compressed WMV. Switch it to AVI or DVD.
