Google Earth will be starting to feature recreations of Walt Disney World's theme parks. By the end of this month, you will be able tour 3-D recreations of 1,500 restaurants, rides and attractions, as well as hotels and resorts.
"It's a virtual walk-through of the whole property … the most amazing virtual tour of any place in the world," Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Jay Rasulo says. John Hanke, Google Maps director, says that the project will be "truly innovative and unique".
Eight photographers photographed every inch of Walt Disney World, then those images were rendered into 3-D.
The maps will prove to be informational as well as visual. You will be able to find out height requirements, and check room rates and availability at hotels.
"It's an attempt to make the data more available to (everyday) people," he says. Google Earth "is a figurative sandbox, and anyone can jump in" and play.
The map will be available at disneyworld.com/3dparks for free on Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

My dad is a Microsoft Purist and doesn't allow my family to use google, ipods, iphones, Wii, etc. It was a huge stretch when he let my sisters get Nintendo DSs. I may have to break some rules, because I gotta see this!

I was checking it out earlier this morning. It's pretty cool, but even as fast as my current comp is, i kept getting big slowdowns when i tried to zoom in to ground level and try and "walk" through the areas.

Same here Scores, it is very laggy for me. I haven't gotten to see much but what i have seen is awesome! I think they kinda skimped on the castle though. But maybe i just didn't let it fully load. I don't know.
Hopefully once we have the images in our temporary internet files it will load faster? Who knows?

There's some (very small) screenshots on the page about Google Earth on the Disney Wold website. It looks pretty cool.
