Heya gang,
I managed to go to Disneyland late yesterday to use our passes. It was a pretty much unplanned event. We left at about 10:50 am and got there at about 12:10 pm.
Here's a brief report for anyone who's interested.
We headed straight to Tomorrowland on a path to Space Mountain, when we saw Star Tours looked like a walk-on, and indeed it was! Walked right up to the boarding area, no wait. So we hopped on that, and man does that need an update, but we had a really "enthusiastic" group on our "tour." We exited, went to Space mountain and walked right on to that.
Once we left space mountain we walked over to Innoventions (or at least what's open of it) and took a look around. I even went on the VMK (top-level) computers. We left that quickly, and headed to Buzz. I beat my highscore and set a new one as 228,200 points. :)
We then left Tomorrowland, and hopped on the Fantasyland side of the Matterhorn. We then walked around Fantasyland and I think we then went on Mr. Toad's because it had a short wait (basically walk-on). We also got a quick ride on the "merry-go-round" and I even rode Lillian's "Golden-toothed" horse. We walked over to the It's a small world area to get ice cream. It was about 3:00.
After Fantasyland, we headed to the other side of the park and got Fastpass's for Splash Mountain. Once we got those, we walked on to Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. We then saw we had more time until the Fastpass time came, so we ran over to Indy and went to a quick ride on that. We quickly walked over to Splash Mountain, but as we showed up to the Fastpass entrance, a cast member said that the ride had been shut down. We then headed back around the river to Big Thunder and I believe that was our last ride. As we walked out, a cast member dressed as a pirate noticed my pirate ears, and my pirate pins (that jingle!) and said something about my appearence.
After big thunder, we wandered through the pass between the entrances to Adventureland, and Frontierland where someone said "Hey, there's a pin trader!" since I had a lot of my VMK pins on. He asked for my medallion pin and I said no, and then he asked for my other Donald "bird hat" pin. I traded that for a neat sorcerer mickey pin. That was my first pin trade outside of a cast member, woot! We walked into the first store in Adventureland, and I bought myself a neat (40 dollar @_@) Indiana jones hat. We walked back to Frontierland, got some pins, some dinner (Clam chowder in a bread bowl) and ate. When we finished we went back to space mountain and decided it was our last ride for the day. It said 15 minutes, but the line was wrapped around outside the building so we didn't bother. I bought an Indy pin for my hat, and the day was done. On the way out a cast member on duty for the parade noticed my ears on my hat and he said " You're the first Indy-Pirate I've ever seen.
-----------------------
On a side note for VMK, I thought it was pretty ironic that they still have the VMK computers in Innoventions even if you can't create a new character anymore.
Also, when I bought my Indy hat I overheard a little girl saying "Mommy, look they have a panda webkinz." Now I really understand why they are closing VMK. They have given up. They're selling other companies' merchandise rather than their own. So, they have given up. Good for them.
Hope you enjoy. :)
Lucky ducky! It sounds like you had a lot of fun!
I've ridden Lillian's horse, too. Something about riding it makes you feel special :)
:D What a great way to spend an unplanned day! :D
