Disney will be releasing a new 3D animated film, "Bolt", on November 2008. John Travolta and Susie Essman will be voicing the lead roles. The film follows the journey of a TV star dog who mistakenly gets sent to New York from his Hollywood home.
Previous 3D films released by Disney are "Chicken Little," "Meet the Robinsons" and "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas". "We absolutely believe in the whole concept of 3-D and the enhancement that it brings in the ability to separate us from any of the other mediums," Disney president of domestic distribution Chuck Viane said.
There are also 2 new 3D films that will be coming out that will be directed and produced by Tim Burton; "Alice in Wonderland" and "Frankenweenie".
Disney's next Digital 3-D release will be HANNAH MONTANA/MILEY CYRUS: BEST OF BOTH WORLDS CONCERT TOUR, which will be coming to theaters in February. |
I have not heard much about this movie since it's release date is an entire year away. I found a more detailed description on UltimateDisney for those who are interested.

| Bolt (formerly known as American Dog) - This long-in-production film tells the story of a canine TV star who bids farewell to a life of martinis and starlets when he winds up stranded in his trailer in the Nevada desert. There, he meets up with an oversized radioactive rabbit and a testy one-eyed cat who are looking for new homes. Described as both "charming" and "twisted", the film has been in the works since 2004. It was expected to arrive in theaters some time in the fall of 2007, but a delay announced in November 2005 set Summer 2008 as a new anticipated release date. In December of 2006, it became known that the movie's writer Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch) had been dropped as director. Just days earlier, Disney executives had officially greenlit the film as Walt Disney Feature Animation's 2008 release. This computer-animated project is now in the hands of Chris Williams, a story artist on Mulan and The Emperor's New Groove. Voices have already been recorded from the likes of John Travolta, Thomas Haden Church, Woody Harrelson, Bernie Mac, Bruce Greenwood, and stand-up Mario Cantone. The latest anticipated release date is the day before Thanksgiving, November 26, 2008, in what is traditionally a very popular week for moviegoing |

Hmmm...Hopefully this one will be actually worth the 3D effects. We went out of our way to go to a theater where they were showing Meet the Robinsons in 3D, and it totally wasn't worth it.

Really? I thought MTR was absolutely beautiful in 3D. Of course the theatre right near me that I always go to had both options so I guess I did not really go out of my way to do it so I was not too expectant of anything. I thought the future scenes and the beginning scene with the rain falling outside the orphanage absolutely stunning.

Hannah Montanna in 3-D.. is that really even needed. And Im guessing that the Alice in Wonderland will not be like the original.. wow did I really miss the main point of this.

Of course it is Ace, think of the huge money maker that will be when every little girl on the face of the earth goes to that. Just like HSM, they will use this franchise way too much, and make LOTS of money

If by original you mean the Disney animated movie, then no, it will be nothing like it. But with Tim Burton involved, I am sure it will be much more like the original novel. I am excited to see what he does with the story.

Disney is a Multi-Billion dollar Corporation - the bottom line is, was, and always will be money.
Magic is their product - be it from a theme park, movie, merchandise, or countless other methods.
Why should they be any different from any other Corporation. They need to make the money to keep the pixie dust flowing...

Oh my god, wouldn't it be sick if in Alice in Wonderland the "Who R U" part came out to you" I expect great things.

Hopefully they won't, as they say, 'butcher the classics'. It should be exciting seeing these films in 3-D :)
